Question:
Why does the system allow me to register more volunteers for an event than I have specified as the maximum number of volunteers needed for the event?
Answer:
The event registration restriction based on the number of volunteers needed is only applicable when a volunteer attempts to register themselves for an Event or Service Project. If an opportunity is considered "Full" (all volunteer spots are filled), then a volunteer will not be allowed to register themselves for the opportunity.
However, if a CERVIS user with Administrator, Leadership Team, Group Leader, or Event Leader access is logged in to the administrative side of CERVIS, they will be allowed to register additional volunteers (or "override" the number) for a Normal Event, Custom Event, or Service Project. Please note, prior to completing the registration, a system message will appear informing them that they are attempting to "override" the number of volunteers needed for an event. At this point, they can choose to "override" the number of volunteers registered and continue with the volunteer registration, or they can cancel the registration.
Additionally, the number of volunteers registered for Time Slot Events may not be "overridden". If additional volunteers need to be registered for a Time Slot Event, you must go in and update the number of volunteers needed for that slot, and then go back in and register the additional volunteer(s).
