Gender Pronouns
AnsweredCurrently the gender identifier field that is native to CERVIS, reads: Volunteer Gender, with the option of choosing Male or Female. In order to be inclusive and respectful of all our volunteers, it would be great if an organization was given the choice of turning the aforementioned field off and using an alternate field that read something like, "What pronouns do you use?" with options that include she/her/hers, he/him/his, & they/them/theirs. While gender is not a variable for most of our volunteer assignments, as a theatre it is important for us to know of our performance volunteers what type roles they are interested in being considered. This type information cannot easily be collected via Custom Volunteer Profile Fields because of the way I am currently using those fields to collect information. Also since the gender field is a native field in CERVIS already, it would be more equitable to allow the field to be expanded to include all volunteers.
Thanks for your time and attention.

Hi Amy,
We are working on an update that will allow you to specify additional gender options in the built-in gender selection field, which should be released fairly soon. However, if you want to include a completely separate question for preferred pronouns, you would have to use one of the available custom selection fields, as this is not something we currently have planned to build directly into the system.
If we do receive enough requests for this type of functionality in the system, in the future, we will certainly re-evaluate functionality, but currently, most organizations just have different preferences on how they ask this question, so our solution is to add the ability to add additional options to the built in gender field or to allow orgs to create a custom question so it can be presented exactly as the organization desires.
Warm Regards,

Hi Katy,
We added the ability to edit the response options for your volunteers in the built-in Gender field in our v8.4.0 update. You can find all of the information about our regular system updates in the Changelog linked HERE.
You will find this new option in the Information Collection section of your System Configuration. The field is entitled, "Additional Gender Selection Options" and it enables you to enter the selection options that you would like included in addition to Male and Female (e.g. Other, Non-Binary, etc) in a comma separated format.
Warm Regards,
CERVIS Customer Support
