The majority of my service events occur almost daily over a period of four to six weeks and include 3-15 of the same volunteers working individual positions for every call. All volunteers work the same time slot, but hey work very different positions. Sometimes up to 3 volunteers will split a position. They may all attend training on the same days, but then will divide the remaining 3-4 week schedule up according to their availability.
This type volunteer opportunity is not well addressed by any of the 4 current event types. I can have volunteers log their own hours with service project, but I still have to manually track the hours they plan to attend by following up with emails and tracking their schedules in excel. I would love to be able to manage all of my volunteer events exclusively with CERVIS.
The slot event type does not work well for my events that require 5+ volunteers over a period of 5+ weeks. It would be extremely time consuming to try to create such an event with the current time slot function. - Depending on the project, I would have to create 120-330 unique slots to provide for every position on every day of call for the event. Even with the bulk editing feature and duplication feature (which will only copy one slot at a time), it is time prohibitive for me to create sign-ups in CERVIS for these events. I need a way for volunteers to select their position and then select all the dates they are available for that position. Also, the sign-in sheet and report logs generated are not helpful for this type of event. I need to be able to look at all dates of the event (or at least one week at a time) on one sheet of paper. The current report barely gets one day on one sheet of paper.
