There have been countless times where I've encountered people who have a first name that is different than the name they go by. Right now, the workaround is to write a note in their profile but unless you intentionally go looking through their notes, you'll miss it. It also doesn't display on their registration/sign-in sheet, etc.
It would be great to have this field added, allow it to be searchable, and have it display on sign-in sheets instead of the given first name.

Hi Colin,
You could always just use one of your custom fields for this purpose. This would allow you to both search for the information in the system and include the information on the event sign-in sheet.

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. This wouldn't work as seamless as I'm envisioning, though. If I type "Bob" into the search field instead of "Robert", I'm not going to get any results. I would then have to run a custom search in the custom "Nickname" field to search for "Bob". If I wasn't aware that Bob went by another name, I would assume he's not in our system. This is, unless I run this custom search EVERY time I do a volunteer search. Not exactly intuitive.
I'd encourage you to consider this feature.
