Reservation Linked to Group Registrations

Can we get it set up so that when you have a group associated with a reservation code it counts as the group being registered for the event while also having the individuals sign up using the code as normal? 

As an organization, we require everyone who volunteers to have created a profile, so we very rarely use the group registration feature. However, we do use groups to categorize volunteers and track the hours of both volunteers and groups. So being able to have the reservations associated with groups count towards a group registration for tracking purposes would be very helpful.

An example of this would be we have the reservation code: CentralNHS associated with the Central National Honors Society group and they have 5 slots for an event. Individuals will sign up for those slots but I also want to be able to in my groups search for groups that have participated in at least 1 event and have the Central National Honors Society appear in that search even though we didn't use the group registration feature as it stands.
